[Oh. Well. That is certainly new, and Luce pauses. She can remember a time when she would have just dismissed it as a trick or very handy device, but lately...]

[Luce doesn't immediately say anything, just stores the incident in the back of her mind.]

You...can. [Rei frantically tries running fingers through her hair, fiddling and fidgeting and trying not to just bury her face in her pillow. Geez mom!]

[Chuckling, she goes to sit down and lightly pats Rei's shoulder.]

It is a bit obvious- you clearly took off in a rush.

[Rei does her best not to squirm, but Luce's reaction is...not really what she'd expected.]

I know. I just...don't want to be caught doing anything that would make trouble for everyone.

[That should make it obvious who this is about. She's embarrassed, and she'd really hoped nobody would find out about her escapade but at least it's not Doctor. Or Pao-Lin.]

[Oh, the poor dear. Luce rubs her back sympathetically, and waits.]

I won't ask what the "other things" are. Although is there anything you want to talk or ask me about...?

[Rei looks down at her hands and she manages, at least, to seem to find her center. It takes a few minutes, and she's quiet. There really isn't any shame in it, she knows that, and she can breathe a little bit easier now that Luce's stopped teasing. She never deals with that level of bluntness well.]

I just touched him on his thing, and he touched me, and we kissed a lot. [But she still can't bring herself to say anything other than 'thing' for his...well...you know.]

It was really nice, like I lost myself for a little while. Warm, and I wanted to do more for him, and I know he wanted the same. Is that moving too quickly?

[Waiting and listening, Luce holds back any teasing. This isn't something to poke fun of, after all.]

Well, you should always be careful and make sure that you're not feeling pressured to do anything... And to be prepared, just in case. [She shouldn't have to say what "being prepared" means.] However, if that's what you both want and you do a bit of research so you know what to expect, I won't call it "moving too quickly".

Just know it's not what like the movies or, ahem, other things might tell you it's like, if you go farther. You shouldn't be afraid to stop things if you're getting uncomfortable, either.

[Rei looks down at her hands, opening and closing them uselessly as Luce speaks. She understands being prepared, and fully intends to make sure she is, with all the proper things. Condoms are an obvious thing, yes, she's not foolish.]

I don't think I'm being pressured. I started it, tonight. We just sat in the back seat of a car, watching a movie at the drive in. It wasn't anything I intended, but I couldn't stop myself once I got started. [She smiles now, a little weak, but still a smile.]

[With the two of them settled against one another, Luce toys with her hair gently. Ever since she had first met Rei, Luce has always marveled at how long and smooth her hair is. If she ever had a flesh and blood daughter, she knows she'd hope her hair could be much the same.]

[She has Rei and Pao-Lin, however, and that's just as good right now.]

No one falls in love using the same steps. Sometimes it's quick and hard, and other times it takes a much longer path. Some people never need sex, and others do, yet even then they might not fall in love.

Just go your own path, and be careful as you do.

[Rei leans into Luce even further, enjoying that sensation. It reminds her of the mother she'd lost, of a connection she desperately needed. Honestly she wasn't sure she'd function in the industry without a dynamic like Flowers over Bones.]

I'm...yes, I'm going to be careful. I'm not rushing into anything. But I just...stars above, I can't get the thought out of my head. I just want to be closer to him. Not just anyone, him.

It is a little strange, since I've really only ever been terribly attracted to girls but...he's worth it.
